You may also look for PROTUS password utility (check FBB mini-HOWTO at
www.linuxdoc.org). It offers both plain and MD* protection, forwarding
password etc. I don't use JNOS but as long as I am informed it *should*
recognize MD* type of string (or it might be sure for some other *NOS).
