Allan

Hi. And let me apologize for not being able to talk with you on the last
two calls. I am having quite a bout with this cold that I even had to see
a doctor. But so far his medicine is not helping a bit. I don't know what
to do but go back to another doctor on Monday.

Apart from that - lets try and deal with your problem here.....

No.

The author(s) of the ax25 utils have written their programs to work
perfectly if you follow exactly what they are saying. Once that is done the
utils will not only install ok but the applications dependent upon them
will be able to find them.

Is /sbin/xfbb in your path. And further more , is xfbb in that
directory?? Have a look.

Well xfbb is nice but today there is very little use for it anymore. I
think we talked about that on our first phone call. People are using the
Internet now for mail so there is little need to run a BBS for one or two
people.

However, having said that - you should still try and get it to work for you
just for the experience. And I see no reason why you can't get it going.
When you run that install program everything falls into place. And once
that is done and you manually run xfbb by typing in fbb from your root
directory - up it will come but it will ask you a number of questions on
the way up. It will also be checking to see if you have your directories
all set up correctly and if not will make them for you. So it is pretty smart.

Once that is done, xfbb will be running and waiting for people to
connect. Of course if you don't have your port.sys file and others made up
to make xfbb work, than it won't come up. It needs to know about your
ports and what they are called etc. etc.. Not difficult or tricky but just
simple stuff that is needed.

So there you go. Keep at it and all will work.

Too bad you didn't have a 24 hr internet line to that computer. I could
telnet in and do it all for you. I have done this for lots of people and
it is like doing it on my own computer at home. Really neat.

Running ./install_sh cuts off after you put in your personal info and then complains it cannot find ./sbin/xfbb.
